Academics & curriculum
With over 125 years of experience, we have a proven track record of academic success.
We offer a progressive CAPS-based curriculum that is enhanced, enriched, and innovated by the latest technological developments.
The CAPS (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) is the national policy that sets the minimum standards for teaching, learning, and assessment for all subjects in South African schools.
- Holistic approach: Our curriculum incorporates various subjects, including environmental and social awareness programmes and extracurricular activities, catering to a variety of interests.
- Excellence: Our pupils are encouraged to pursue excellence in all aspects of their academic, sporting, and cultural experiences. Our alumni have gone on to achieve outstanding results in their high school careers.
- Languages: English is our official home language. Afrikaans is our first additional language, and Zulu is taught conversationally.
Supporting every child’s journey
At Rivonia Primary, we understand that children learn differently. Our dedicated Learner Support Department provides early intervention and assists pupils who may need additional support to reach their full potential.
We believe in a collaborative approach, where therapists, educators, and parents work together to identify each child’s needs and provide the appropriate support.
Our goal is to help every child overcome challenges, build confidence, and thrive within our mainstream school environment.
Sport, culture & character
Sport plays a crucial role in building the long-term personal and social values necessary for success.
- Sport: Rivonia Primary pupils are encouraged to participate in a comprehensive and inclusive range of competitive and non-competitive activities.
- Extracurriculars: We offer a variety of activities, from sports, chess, ROAM and drama to music and art, that allow pupils to explore their talents and passions. We also have an intramural programme for children in Grades 1 and 2.
- Character: We instil essential values such as respect, responsibility, and kindness in all our pupils.
