            "headline": "Rivonia\u2019s proud history begins",
            "text": "At the turn of the century, on a farm about 200m north of the present-day Witkoppen Road - between the Klein Jukskei and the Zandspruit, a wood and iron building stood to form the Rietfontein 15 Government Farm School. The first pupil enrolled on the 10th November 1903 under the tutelage of a young English teacher and thus began Rivonia\u2019s proud history."

                "headline": "Mr William and parents help raise money to secure the school's future",
                "text": "In 1911 the then headmaster - Mr William N Stopforth - realised that a school set between two rivers, with the typical Highveld thunder storms \u2013 would be forever fraught with constant flooding - so with the enthusiastic support of the fund-raising parents, generated \u00a325 (R50 in that decade) to purchase two acres of land -slightly south of the original building on the farm Edenberg, where we stand today."

                "headline": "The school's badge and motto, Contentione Vince, (Strive to Conquer) was introduced.",
                "text": "In 1952, under the guiding force of Mr Johan M Geertsema, the school uniform, the existing badge and the school motto, Contentione Vince, (Strive to Conquer) was introduced. At this time, Rivonia was an Afrikaans medium school - the closest English medium school was in Rosebank. With transport being a major problem, a contingent of English speaking parents approached the school requesting an English medium section \u2013 which was created in 1955. This was the start of Rivonia Parallel-medium School which lasted for over 15years, until all the Afrikaans pupils were transferred, with their teachers, to the newly built school in Bryanston."

                "headline": "The Johan Geertsma School Hall",
                "text": "The School Hall is named the Johan Geertsma School Hall and in the foyer stands a bronze bust of Johan sculpted by ex-pupil Philip Minaar. Mr Geertsma retired in 1972."

                "headline": "Mr E Saks's leadership",
                "text": "Mr E Saks took the reins in 1973 and the school went from strength to strength. In the twenty one years of his professional leadership, classrooms were built, a media centre was built (the first of its kind at that time), an office block was added; the computer centre was built, furnished and commissioned. A tuckshop was built, tennis courts were erected and a new swimming pool was constructed. Ernie Sachs retired as a much loved colleague, mentor and friend in 1994."
