At this time, Rivonia was an Afrikaans medium school - the closest English medium school was in Rosebank. With transport being a major problem, a contingent of English speaking parents approached the school requesting an English medium section \u2013 which was created in 1955. A tuckshop was built, tennis courts were erected and a new swimming pool was constructed.
